mother jones: the house GOP's plan to redefine... →
i’ve been reading a lot about this bill and it’s all rather appalling.  my primary concern with it isn’t the pro-choice/anti-choice aspect but rather the introduction of legislation that would narrow the definition of rape beyond a lack of consent. rape that isn’t violent is still rape.

first meeting of the downtown arts district
i’ve been really excited because paul bishop is opening a gallery next door to his studio space and tom root is opening a gallery and instruction space. i realized that with the opening of those two galleries, in addition to the existing gallery spaces and arts-related businesses, that there was enough to constitute an arts district. so we hosted a meeting here at the gallery tonight, and...

more adventures in organization
so, today i’ve realized that i finally have to tackle my yarn stash. i knew this time would come and i’ve been absolutely dreading it. i’ve been looking for my postage scale because i’m going to make a batch of macarons later today and i want to measure out the ingredients. (i primarily use a postage scale to determine how much yarn is left in a half-used skein since most...

i made it twelve minutes through the mtv version before i had to turn it off. i’m going to finish the episode some other time, when i’ve had more alcohol. tonight, it felt like watching a bad community theatre version of my favourite something.

i went by campus this morning to pick up my diploma. while i was in the administration building, i got hit on twice in the space of ten minutes. this is absolutely hilarious to me because: no make-up my hair hasn’t been washed in three days also i didn’t feel like combing it this morning, so i stuck it up in a bun with all kinds of sticky-outy flyaway pieces sweater covered in cat...

EPA revokes huge mountain-top removal coal mining... →
climateadaptation: Just in from the steadfast tumblr-er, Kateoplis. The Spruce Number 1 mine would have buried 7 miles of fresh water mountain streams, with no remediation. The destructive project was the largest mtn-top removal permit issued in Appalachia. The public voiced its distaste for the project as far back as 1998 (warning, that ‘98 story is a bit of a heartbreaker). According to the...

jc press: downtown to be focus of campaign for van... →
i really like this! i knew that he’d be running for city council but i am just absolutely delighted that his platform is downtown revitalization. even if he doesn’t secure a seat on the city council, it will encourage more focus on downtown in the public discourse. ralph van brocklin is also my oral surgeon. when i had my wisdom teeth removed, we talked about the downtown flooding...
