- when i a kid, i wanted to be an astronaut and beautician. my plan was that i’d do hair whenever i wasn’t in space.

- i love baking pies. i used to make macarons all the time, but my last few batches have been total flops so i haven’t made them in a while. even with the worst of hangovers, i can motivate myself to make some carbonara (i love having carbonara as a weekend breakfast).
- hardest choice ever. normally i would say mexican, but lately i want to eat italian food all the time every day.
- yes i can and i totally need to scrounge up something to eat because now it’s on my brain too!

hopefully, my first meal post-braces will involve some corn on the cob with lots of butter and black pepper.
i did lose some weight since getting the braces, but i don’t know how much of that is because of the braces-related adjustments to my diet. i’ve also been exercising a lot since getting the braces, all part of my “new and improved kate” project i guess.
i’ve been meaning to write a thing about my experiences with braces. it was so much more difficult than i ever expected it to be, but i’m still happy that i did it. i spent too many years feeling awful about my teeth and i’m glad that i was able to do something about it. it’s nice to be able to smile without feeling completely self conscious about it.
business is super slow at the coffee bar and i’m not looking forward to spending the next few hours just killing time.

dinner: fettuccine with pork, greens, and beans
there were a bunch of jerks at the tequila tasting yesterday and by the time it was over i just wanted to eat tacos and watch tv. so i went to the taco place down the street, was totally confused by their cinco de mayo special, and ended up with $40 worth of pork shoulder. HAHA WHOOPS.
i decided that instead of making myself hate pork tacos by eating them for every meal, i’d find some other uses for the pork. this dish made a dent in it, although i still have plenty left. today has been hard and this was a nice dinner because it basically tasted like a hug.
