i'm 29 years old. i love living in tennessee - mostly because i live over an art gallery and have a rooftop garden.

i like cooking, knitting, film, laughs, literature, art, feminism, wine, and fashion. you can expect to see all of those things here.

my friend david is in this month’s imbibe magazine for the stinging nettle, which is the bar that he built in his basement.

this bar is truly one of the most amazing things that i’ve ever seen. i mean, when you hear that your friends have a bar in their basement, your expectations are pretty low. but you go to david and jenny’s house, and it’s like an english pub has magically appeared in their basement. there’s a wood and glass façade, a copper bar edged in oak with inlaid british coins, spot on decor, every last detail perfect. no matter how many times i’ve been over to their house, i’m still completely blown away when i see it.

the story behind the bar is pretty great too. david and jenny’s house didn’t even have a basement when they bought it, and david spent two years digging one out using a shovel and a bucket. then david spent six years constructing the bar himself. the shovel hangs on a wall in the bar now.

i’m so happy for david and jenny and i’m also so lucky to be friends with them. and not just because they have the best parties, either.
